About Hanmer

Hanmer Springs is rapidly gaining a reputation as being a world-class destination and the awe-inspiring scenery coupled with a vast range of breathtaking adventure sports and leisure activities ensure that its prestigious position in the tourist market is guaranteed. The village is located inland, 65 kilometres southwest from Kaikoura and just off the northern route between Christchurch and the West Coast via Lewis Pass. Travel times from Christchurch are between 90 to 120 minutes.

The town was built around a famous hot spring which was discovered in the late 19th century, and it receives visitor numbers of around 700,000 throughout the full 12 months of the year.
